Consul General Pan Xinchun Inspects Two Chinese Schools in Edinburgh
2014/11/17

On Nov. 8th, Consul General Pan Xinchun, in the company of Consul Shen Dechun, inspected the school environment and teaching conditions of Huaxia Chinese School and Aiqiao Chinese School respectively and met teachers & students there.

Mr.Pan pointed out, during the panel discussions with leaders and teachers of the two schools, that with the increasing comprehensive strength of China Chinese language is gaining more and more popularity in the UK. So is Chinese teaching. Many British students began to study Chinese when it had been formally adopted as an entrance exam foreign language by British authority. He appreciated the unremitting endeavours made by the two schools in establishing Chinese education and promoting Chinese culture. Mr. Pan said that the curriculums of the Chinese schools should be tailored compatible with the requirements of SQA to the greatest extent. He hoped that the students ought to be exposed not only to the splendid traditional Chinese culture but also to the brilliant achievements made by contemporary China. He revealed that the relevant domestic departments would continue to provide assistance to overseas Chinese schools. The Edinburgh Chinese Consulate General will spare no efforts in supporting Chinese schools within our consular district as always.

School heads and teachers extended a warm welcome to Mr. Pan and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chinese Consulate General for its substantial support. They also gave Mr. Pan a brief introduction to their school origin, teaching courses and number of teachers & students. With enormous interests Mr. Pan watched the gorgeous Chinese folk music performances by the students in the music classroom.
