First Minister Sturgeon Meets Representatives of Zhongyin Cashmere Company

On 21 March, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon met Mrs. Zhan Yingjie, Chairman of Ningxia Zhongyin Cashmere Company at the Scottish Parliament, attended by Mr. Pan Xinchun, Chinese Consul General in Edinburgh, Mr. Jin Xu, Minister Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Office of Chinese Embassy, senior manager of Zhongyin Todd &Duncan and representative of Scottish Enterprise.


First Minister extended warm welcome to her Chinese guests. She expressed that Scottish government welcomes Chinese investments in Scotland, supports and encourages cooperation of companies from both sides, speaks highly of positive contributions made by Ningxia Zhongyin Cashmere Company and Todd & Duncan to Scottish economy and employment, is willing to create favorable conditions for Zhongyin Cashmere Company to grow and innovate in Scotland and hopes Scotland and Ningxia Autonomous Region in China will establish friendly ties for cooperation.


Mrs. Zhan gave an introduction of the history of Zhongyin Cashmere Company, saying that since Zhongyin Cashmere Company acquired Todd & Duncan, both sides have worked hard together in building a global brand of Todd & Duncan. She hopes Scottish government can offer more policy support to help Todd & Duncan grow for mutual benefits. Consul General Pan welcomes First Minister's upcoming visit to China this April, believing that it will be conducive to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between China and Scotland. Minister Counsellor Jin spoke highly of achievements made by two sides in recent years in areas of trade and investment, inviting Scottish businesses to attend China International Import Expo to be held in Shanghai in November this year.    


During their site visit to Todd & Duncan, Consul General Pan and Minister Counsellor Jin hope that both companies will enhance collaboration and expand with innovation to advance business development to a new level.


Based in Scotland, Todd & Duncan has a history of over 150 years. It became a subsidiary of Ningxia Zhongyin Cashmere Company in 2009 with around 200 jobs created. As an outstanding spinner in Scotland, Todd & Duncan has world class products as well as managerial experience, producing cashmere yarn with supreme quality.
