Shenzhen Global Promotional Event and Business Forum Held in Edinburgh
On 18 April, Mr. Pan Xinchun, Chinese Consul General in Edinburgh, Mr. Ma Boyin, Deputy Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal Government, Rt Hon Frank Ross, Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh attended the Shenzhen Global Promotional Event and Shenzhen-Edinburgh Business Forum and delivered speeches. More than 100 people including delegates from Shenzhen, representatives from local enterprises and the Doctorate Association attended the event.
Consul General Pan Xinchu extended warm welcome to Deputy Secretary-General Ma Boyin and Shenzhen Promotion Team. Mr. Pan Xinchun stressed that recent years see the closer exchanges and cooperation between Shenzhen and Edinburgh with many fruits, an evidence of the development of China-Scotland friendly relations. He said that First Minister Nicola Sturgeon paid a successful visit to China last week and trade between two sides enjoys continuous growth while significant progress has been made in cooperation in education and culture. He believed that this event will strengthen the exchanges and cooperation of two sides and add new momentum and connotation to their relationship.
Deputy Secretary-General Ma Boyin presented phenomenal achievements of Shenzhen in its social and economic development since China's reform and opening-up. He said that as an innovation city, Shenzhen will continue to deliver innovation-driven strategy and deepen opening up. He welcomed more enterprises from the UK to develop in Shenzhen. Lord Provost Ross summarized the achievements made by the two sides in broad areas, spoke positively of the innovation and vitality of Shenzhen and expressed that Edinburgh City Council will continue to facilitate the cooperation in all areas and take the relationship to a new height.
Deputy Secretary-General Ma Boyin presented Lord Provost Ross with his calligraphy work to wish a long-standing friendship between Shenzhen and Edinburgh at the end of the event.
