Consul General Ma Qiang Holds Reception Marking His Assumption of Office
A welcoming reception in honor of Consul General of the PRC in Edinburgh, Mr. Ma Qiang, was held at the Consulate on 28 November. Over a hundred guests including representatives from Scottish Government, Parliament, City Councils and other organizations across Scotland attended the function.
Consul General Ma said that, China-UK relations in "Golden Era" have been developing with a sound momentum. In this context, China-Scotland relations continued to develop in a steady manner, bearing fruitful results. The development of China provides Scotland with more opportunities. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding the PRC. The remarkable achievements made for the past seven decades truly impressed the world. China's national economy maintained a generally steady and sound performance with a good momentum. China will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development, making new contributions to an open global economy and to a community with a shared future for mankind.
Mr. Scott Wightman, Director for External Affairs, spoke on behalf of the government. He said that Scotland stands ready to work with Consul General and China to deepen mutual trust and build a more constructive relationship.
